Over the course of an hour you will experience a series of simple movements paralleling human evolution, sinking into healing relaxation. In a quiet guided process of self-discovery, you will connect with your cells and spirit. While listening to your body, you’ll find a place of constructive rest, a truly rejuvenating kind of rest. Look at this guy!!

He must have some terrible shoulder ache. Do you know someone like this? Over time, through the pressures of dealing with a 21st century way of living, certain habits of moving, or habits of thinking, create discomfort or injury that can really make life a misery. The Alexander Technique is a way of changing your personal habits for ease of movement and to enable the body to heal through balanced choice.

I offer lessons in the Alexander Technique for folks who want to alleviate aches and pains, or who are recovering from injury or anyone who simply wishes to improve their way of life.
I am in the last few months of my training and so offer classes at a very reasonable rate. $75 for a lesson.

 Alexander Technique Lesson

In my Alexander Technique lessons , I include a personal practice you can use on your own terms, The Dart Procedures. Raymond Dart created a series of personal studies that enable you to release your physical and mental tensions in such a way that you are able to find your own natural way to move and to give you tools to balance your thinking as you go through the day .

The Dart Procedures

Picture
The Dart Procedures are a means of personal improvement based on the work of Professor Raymond Dart. The procedures combine a series of easily attainable movements based on evolutionary development and embryological development to remind the body of its innate pattern. This gives the practitioner a way to move the body more easefully and develop healthy habits. It is a way of following a road map to self care.

Ease at work

Down through the age of commerce and  industry....
the easing of aches and pains make for big business - we are put in some rather unnatural positions at work that cause aches and pains - then we go to a gym to do further work to work out those aches and pains! How about a bit of ease and release somewhere in there?

Human beings were probably harmed in the making of these photographs. I guarantee nothing we do to be like the above treatments....

Primal movement,
Mime and the Alexander Technique

Mime or  mimesis has been around for as long as humans have been. In this workshop physical techniques are used to reconnect to the doing part of your life, to develop your creativity and rehearse for a more easeful way of living. Ease rather than comfort, informed choice rather than perceived feel-good habit

Tai Chi and the Alexander Technique

Movement and habit change - rehearsal for life
There are a few workshops on offer for finding ways of practicing movement to make the everyday more easeful. Through the Tai Chi form certain principles of push and pull, falling in and falling out are practiced alongside the idea of the body as a tensegrity structure. You will learn to move to release, to find freedom in the joints as a pathway to finding the same freedom in every day activities
