Bouffon is a satirical grotesque performance style featuring puffy weird characters (from the French bouffée*: "to puff up") who are outsiders delighting in and mocking human behavior.
We will be engaging in group somatic learning and exploration, navigating complex challenging relationships via extreme physicalized character attributes, and building capacity to have humor and to collaborate in the face of discomfort.
Bouffon is a satirical grotesque performance style codified by physical theatre Jacque Lecoq in the 1950s during the Italian-French commedia dell'arte renaissance.
